BMW Group Financial Services UK is looking for a Data and Analytics Head of Data Governance. This role is based at the Summit ONE Campus in Farnborough

 

The D&A department has a direct line into Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for data strategy, data communication & change, data training & self-service, data analytics, data management/ governance and data architecture. We’re a team of 26 but we’ve doubled in size in the last 18 months due to the strategic focus on data at organisation level. We are now looking for a Head of Data Governance who will also have responsibility for Data Architecture to accelerate the implementation of our new data strategy. What awaits you?

 

  • Develop and implement a strategic framework for data management including governance forums, policies & processes, to improve availability, quality, and reliability of data to support decision making and facilitate information flow.
  • Promote data quality and data governance topics at the most senior levels to ensure sufficient focus, buy-in and support.
  • Develop and lead an inspirational program of communication and change management about the importance of data management to start to shift the data culture within the business.
  • Embed ownership of & accountability for data in the business by defining, aligning & implementing data ownership principles including setting & monitoring quality standards.
  • Develop a Data Management Centre of Competence in the central Data Hub to oversee & support the data owners & data stewards.
  • Lead the selection & implementation of IT tools to support effective data management and quality tracking.
  • Oversee the design of a strategic Data Architecture to support analytics that is fit for the demands of the future and enables the organisation to maximise the opportunities afforded by technology such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Lead a team of 7-10 data management specialists, data analysts and data architects.

What should you bring along?

 

  • Leadership experience in a variety of data teams at multiple organisations ideally including financial services or another regulated industry. 
  • Demonstratable project management experience of defining & implementing data management programs, including the associated cultural change.
  • Extensive knowledge of data management principles and best practices including DAMA.
  • Experience of selecting and implementing data management tooling ideally Informatica.
  • Knowledge of data architecture principles, data analytics platforms and enterprise data models or alternative data structures.  
  • Ability to inspirationally communicate data topics.
  • Proven ability to influence and develop trusted relationships at senior level, and effective stakeholder management at all levels.
  • Proven record of proactive behaviour, taking accountability and demonstrating both evidence and experience-based decision making.
  • Lead a collaborative team and balance team objectives with individual responsibilities.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight, handle quickly changing priorities, and be capable of managing your team to achieve maximum results.
  • Ability to inspire, support, encourage and enable curiosity in data at all levels in the organisation.
