To perform financial analysis on business data in order to leverage and communicate effectively with stakeholders; so as to add value to the business financial strategy.
The purpose of the BI Analyst is to contribute to the success of the team through the analysis, design, specification, implementation and testing of high quality data projects and processes that meet the business needs and contributes to uninterrupted business as usual by performing operational tasks and servicing ad hoc requests.
Job Responsibilities
Deliver projects
• Analyse requirements
• Solve business problems by analysing data and reports from various sources
• Document proposed solutions in required templates
• Develop test plans
• Communicate solutions and ideas to stakeholders through meetings; presentations and generating reports.
• Assist team members where required through-out the project life-cycle
Build and maintain excellent client relationships
• Ensure good working relationships by maintaining a helpful and professional attitude
• Build trust by delivering on commitments as per SLA’s and conduct post-delivery satisfaction surveys
Deliver business as usual
• Execute tasks as per monthly deliverables
• Notify appropriate audience in event of failure and take corrective action where appropriate
• Action ad-hoc requests efficiently and effectively by analysing the underlying data
• Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and adding value to Nedbank.
• Document existing own processes and tasks in prescribed templates and store in knowledge repositor
Transformation of team and delivery of Innovation / sustainable solutions
• Conduct formal and informal knowledge sharing sessions
• Discuss & share lessons learned during a project
• Identify additional areas where information sharing will be beneficial, e.g. try to tie in with development plan and leverage on existing skills within the team
• Communicate with team to promote reuse of data components within the team
• Identify areas of development and training requirements needed to deliver on project work
• Grow knowledge-base in depth and breadth of Nedbank processes, systems and products
• Identify ways of implementing sustainable solutions in the longer term that can replace adhoc requests or prevent recurring incidents
• Design new assets in such a way that foreseeable requirements are already included, and maintenance is minimised
Essential Qualifications
• Professional Qualifications/Degree in any one of the following disciplines: Information Technology, Mathematical/Statistics, Accounting
Minimum Experience Level
• 3 years’ experience is in a BI data analyst /financial role
• Microsoft Excel
• Relevant regulatory knowledge
• Business writing skills
• SQL (preferable)
• Accounting principles (preferable)
