About the Role

The new Card Data, Models, and Credit (DMC) team within the Card and Bank vertical is currently seeking a UX Designer. Directly partnering with executive tech, product and business leadership, our small, interdisciplinary team is tasked with helping solve the highest leverage challenges within the DMC portfolio, and build the next generation of data-enabled experiences. 

 You will join a design strategist, service designer, and researcher, and should be excited about building a new team together. In addition to your UX design skill-set, you will ideally have some service design and data visualization chops in order to design for technical ecosystems, internal platforms, and employee experiences. You should feel comfortable participating in strategic discovery, prototyping solutions, designing journey and ecosystem maps, and creating executive-level presentations. 

This role will work closely with data, product, and design leaders to define and design product solutions and vision state concepts that allow employees to more effectively leverage our data, model, and credit capabilities. DMC is at the heart of Capital One’s business and competitive advantage. What You’ll Do: 

You’ll be asked to handle a variety of responsibilities, including: 

Collaboration & Discovery

• Collaborating with technology, product, data, and business teams to uncover customer and business needs

• Translating needs and insights into engaging, simple, and intuitive design solutions and understandable concepts that evolve and enhance the product interface and experience 

• Advocating for the customer and experience mindset through human centered design methods, including: discovery, research, ideation, whiteboard sessions, and user testing

• Supporting design-led workshops to engage and build alignment across different partners and teams

• Connecting with design community peers in service of learning, sharing, and teaching

Design & Delivery

• Demonstrating familiarity with design tools to deliver concepts and enable successful collaboration across teams

• Creating process and user flows, wireframes, journey maps, and interaction models, resulting in low to high fidelity prototypes

• Designing within existing - and creating new - standards to contribute to our internal design system, best practices, and guidelines

• Supporting effective storytelling and presentation of visual concepts to various stakeholders

• Creating high fidelity design assets for acceptance, development, and delivery to market in partnership with technology colleagues

Basic Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience with UX and UI design

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing for technical ecosystems, internal platforms, and/or associate experiences

• Design experience that leverages active data and/or machine learning, including data visualization

• Familiarity with design and prototyping tools, such as: Figma, Sketch, and/or Adobe Product Suite

• Familiarity with working and contributing to an established design system

• Service design and journey mapping experience

• Experience participating in user research as part of the design process

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-Site): $142,100 - $162,100 for Pr. Associate, Design

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
