General DescriptionThe Data Engineer is a professional passionate about building technological solutions encompassing the entire data lifecycle. Their expertise is focused on data ingestion, transformation, governance, organization, and provisioning, ensuring that data is managed efficiently and securely. In addition to these responsibilities, a Data Engineer with expertise in Snowflake also takes on the crucial role of managing and securing Snowflake environments. This includes configuring Snowflake objects such as databases and warehouses, implementing security measures like role-based access control (RBAC) and data encryption, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The Data Engineer also plays a key role in monitoring and optimizing the performance of Snowflake environments, identifying and resolving bottlenecks, and implementing best practices for query optimization. Overall, a Data Engineer with Snowflake expertise plays a vital role in ensuring that data is managed, secured, and utilized effectively to drive business outcomes.
Responsibilities:Snowflake Environment Configuration: Configure Snowflake environments to meet performance, security, and scalability requirements. This includes setting up databases, warehouses, and other Snowflake objects.Snowflake Environment Security: Implement and maintain security best practices for Snowflake, including role-based access control (RBAC), data encryption, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).Query Analysis and Optimization: Collaborate with the team to analyze and optimize queries for performance and cost efficiency. This involves identifying and resolving bottlenecks, tuning queries, and leveraging Snowflake's features for query optimization.Data Pipeline Implementation: Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to ingest data into the Snowflake data warehouse. This includes integrating data from various sources, performing transformations, and ensuring data quality and integrity.Performance Monitoring and Tuning: Monitor the performance of Snowflake environments and data pipelines, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimizations to enhance performance and scalability.Technical Support and Training: Provide technical support and guidance to team members on Snowflake-related issues and best practices. Conduct training sessions to enhance the team's understanding and usage of Snowflake.Continuous Learning and Improvement: Stay updated with the latest Snowflake features, best practices, and industry trends. Continuously improve Snowflake environments and data pipelines based on emerging technologies and practices.Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document Snowflake configurations, data pipelines, and best practices. Share knowledge and insights with the team to enhance overall productivity and efficiency.Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand their requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs. Communicate effectively to ensure alignment and transparency.Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and troubleshoot issues related to Snowflake environments, data pipelines, and queries. Resolve issues in a timely manner to minimize impact on operations.
Requirements:-Minimum of a B.S. in Computer Science, MIS, or related degree, along with substantial relevant experience.- Snowflake Platform Setup and Maintenance: Expertise in setting up and maintaining a Snowflake platform, including configuring databases, warehouses, and other Snowflake objects to meet performance, security, and scalability requirements. This includes implementing and maintaining security best practices, such as role-based access control (RBAC) and data encryption, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).- Proficiency in English for communication: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders from various areas, including data, applications, infrastructure, and business teams.- Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Proven ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues related to Snowflake environments, data pipelines, and queries in a timely manner.- Continuous Learning and Adaptability: Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and cloud computing.
Nice-to-haves:Advanced Data Engineering Skills: Strong expertise in designing and implementing complex data pipelines, including data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes, using Snowflake and ETL tools.Data Governance and Quality Management: Experience implementing and managing data governance frameworks, including data cataloging, lineage tracking, and data quality monitoring, to ensure data integrity and compliance.Cloud Data Platform Experience: In-depth knowledge of cloud data platforms such as Azure, GCP, or AWS, including hands-on experience with their data services and tools for data storage, processing, and analytics.CI/CD and DataOps Practices: Experience implementing continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for ETL processes, as well as familiarity with DataOps practices for efficient and automated data pipeline development and deployment.Financial Operations (FinOps): Understanding of FinOps principles and practices for optimizing cloud costs related to data storage, processing, and analytics.Dimensional Data Modeling: Proficiency in dimensional data modeling techniques for designing efficient and scalable data warehouse schemas, particularly in Snowflake.Data Lake and Data Warehouse Implementation: Hands-on experience in designing and implementing data lake and data warehouse solutions using Snowflake, including data modeling, partitioning strategies, and optimization techniques.
