As a Data Scientist, you’ll be key in helping Service Delivery to achieve its strategic objectives and deliver better service to customers. You’ll enable the business to make timely decisions by proactively highlighting potential problem areas and enable transformation by identifying areas of opportunity and driving these changes into the business (thereby delivering improved customer service and a reduction in SLG costs).
You will use a detailed understanding of the FTTP process to create meaningful actionable insight to guide decision making across Service Delivery, working with stakeholders to understand their business problems.
You'll have the following responsibilities
- Accountable for providing insight on FTTP service performance, proactively highlighting areas of change and using this insight to identify the optimum actions/ solutions to resolve any issues at pace.
- Drive the exploration of data sources, both internal and external, and applying analytic techniques to create new modelling approaches that drive value into the business.
- Act as the honest broker/ SME, ensuring both an operational and transformational lens is applied and that all views align, making use of the same currency, ultimately with a link to cost.
- Accountable for solving complex business issues using multi-source data and strong descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics skills.
- Proactively work with key stakeholders to understand pain points and target analysis in the agreed areas.
- Responsible for both analysis and generation of insight to clearly identify key drivers of KPI movement and quantify importance.
- Engage with senior stakeholders within Service Delivery to provide a clear picture of performance at both Director and MD level.
- Where necessary, provide material for Ofcom service reviews or input to regulatory information requests.
You'll need to have the following skills and experience
- Expert knowledge in Python and/or R, plus SQL/HQL/ BigQuery with working knowledge of Qlik.
- Proficient in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimisation algorithms.
- Strong ability to reason under uncertainty, combine analytical thinking with contextual knowledge and use critical thinking to extract and interpret information from data.
- Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex information into a simple high level message designed to make the case for change within the business.
- Experience of delivering insight in an operational/ transformational setting.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence in a commercial environment, including using Machine Learning tools to support business decisions.
- Experience of working in or has a strong knowledge of FTTP provision operations and processes
- Able to demonstrate a value-centric approach to work, driven by delivering measurable value to stakeholders.
- Ability to build strong relationships with senior (up to and including director level) stakeholders across the business.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills to lead and influence a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
