Senior Data Engineer

Antipollution is the leading company in the provision of Port Reception Facilities and one of the largest Waste Management companies in Greece and the Mediterranean. Antipollution is a member of V Group, which is a robust Group of Companies with a strong presence and continuous growth in Waste Management, Renewable Energy Sources and Financial Investments.

We are growing fast and we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who will join our knowable IT team and contribute to improving the operational efficiency, optimizing resource utilization and enhancing company’s decision-making.

The role is full-time and permanent, based in our Piraeus office, yet some travelling to our international subsidiaries may be required.

Role Purpose

Collaborating closely with the leadership team, internal IT teams and various business stakeholders to understand their data needs, you will be required to consult on, develop, implement and customize complex, large-scale data solutions to support them effectively. You will be responsible for optimizing data pipelines, ensuring data quality, integrity and reliability and implementing best practices for data management strategies, storage and retrieval, for the company and its growing subsidiary in Egypt.

You will play a vital role in enhancing transparency and accountability in waste management practices, fostering data-driven insights crucial for sustainable decision-making.

What you will need to do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines, models and infrastructure, such as databases and large-scale processing systems, including integration with the Entersoft ERP system
  • Collaborate closely with key users across the company, cross-functional business owners to understand requirements and business objectives and talented IT teams to analyze complex data needs, identify pain points, and translate them into efficient solutions
  • Discover, design, and build accurate data visualizations across multiple data sources
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval for performance, scalability and efficiency

·        Ensure data integrity, security, and availability across all data systems

·        Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and systems

·        Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering

What you will need to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Min. five (5) years of experience in data engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in SQL; Python, Java or any other programming knowledge will be considered an asset
  • Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, or Flink
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with cloud architecture and platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and data integration
  • Familiarity with any reporting tools and WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)
  • Proven ability to deliver scalable, efficient data solutions that align with business objectives
  • Successful track record in designing, implementing, and integrating data systems,
  • Experience in defining and implementing coding best practices and streamlining data management process
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and practices
  • Problem solving attitude and thinking; ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in English language

 

What it would be nice to have

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; any certification in cloud computing, or system architecture
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts
  • Experience with streaming data processing technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis
  • Experience with AI tools
  • Prior exposure to related business sectors such as Waste Management
