Data Governance Manager

We will count on you to:
Create a repeatable process to integrate/load source data catalogs (i.e. DataBricks, Planview, etc.) into the enterprise data catalog (i.e. Informatica Axon)
Identify the metadata required from different sources to satisfy the enterprise catalog needs
Work with source data catalog owners to create and get agreement on change management processes, including notifications and escalations
Create an audit process to reconcile sources to the enterprise data catalog to ensure currency
Work with legal/compliance partners to collect, analyze and inventory data protection policies
Work with Global records management to collect, analyze and inventory data retention schedules
Translate policies and schedules into a standardized, machine readable format to upload into governance tool (i.e. Informatica Axon)
Create and document processes to upload and maintain policies in the governance tool, including change management, approvals, notifications and escalation paths
Work with legal/compliance partners to define scope and criteria to enable mapping of policies to data assets
Work with technical teams to integrate/share policy data with other supporting governance tools (i.e. BigID)
Work with technical teams to ensure implementation of policies are accurate, e.g. assist in testing
Create a process for data owners to view and validate policies for their data assets
What you need to have:
Overall experience of 6-9 years in Data Management – Data Governance role (Data Catalog and Policies)
You should have a strong understanding of data governance principles and practices. This includes knowledge of data quality, data privacy, data security, data retention, data classification, and data lifecycle management. You will be responsible for establishing and enforcing data governance policies and procedures across different departments
It is important to have a solid understanding of the insurance industry. This includes knowledge of different types of insurance policies, claims processes, and regulatory requirements. This knowledge will help you effectively manage and govern data retention and privacy.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, such as SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools, is valuable
Responsible for centrally managing and maintaining ownership and registration records for different assets along with their owners.
Have thorough understanding of Data Protection Policies and Record Retention Schedules along with high level process definition and key roles involved in it
Work with different technology to deliver data disposal solution
Familiarity with different data retention and privacy policies laid out by different regions. For e.g. NY Department of Financial Services: NYCRR 500, GDPR, etc. in order to associate different policies with respective data/metadata
Good communication skills in order to interact with different stakeholders and data owners
What makes you stand out?
Understanding of information (e.g. sources, identifiers, standards, glossaries, and taxonomies) within the insurance industry data domain.
Understanding all procedural and technical aspects of the data management and data governance process, especially data privacy, protection and retention.
Understanding of prioritization process for any data asset with stakeholders
Familiarity with Informatica tools like CDGC, EDC and AXON along with other data governance related tools like BigID to classify PII/SPI data
Familiarity with various analytical and business intelligence methods and tools
Working knowledge of Agile and other SDLC methodologies, including producing user stories and participating in sprints and daily scrums; familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean principles
