ROLE DESCRIPTION

 

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an interdisciplinary team in a fast-moving global organization within an innovative and unique industry.

 

Under the agreement with ESA, the SES-led consortium of industry partners will design, develop and validate in-orbit technologies for space-based quantum key distribution (QKD) and operate EAGLE-1 satellite to securely connect countries in Europe. Comprising of satellite and ground segment, the EAGLE-1 project will provide valuable mission data for next-generation Quantum Communication Infrastructures (QCIs) and validate European sovereign technology for quantum secure communications, as well as contribute to the development of the EuroQCI programme. You will contribute to the development of the Eagle-1 Payload Operation Center (POC) that operators will use to plan and schedule the optical quantum-key satellite distribution.

 

This is a unique opportunity to learn more about the telecommunication and space industry and enhance your business skills.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Analyze the business case and identify the most suitable algorithm for the operation planning optimization problem using data science technologies
  • Implement a proof of concept based on the selected algorithm ideally using Java and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) libraries such as OptaPlanner

 

YOUR PROFILE

1.You must have

  • Being an advanced Bachelor or Master’s student in ICT or in a relevant technical area;
  • Academic knowledge in Data Science/Operation Research/Machine Learning
  • Excellent analytical and judgment skills
  • Work independently as well as in a team;
  • Easiness to communicate at all levels;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • EU27 nationality or work permit for Luxembourg.

2. It would be nice if you had

  • Programming skills in object oriented, procedural and functional programming languages, like Java and scripting languages such as Python
  • Working knowledge with versioning control system and software Integrated development environment such as Visual Studio Code
  • Understanding of satellite communication and satellite orbits
  • Basic understanding of satellite ground stations
  • Additional languages considered an asset
