SUMMARY 

The Energy & Sustainability Data Analyst II is responsible for compiling and managing client data on GHG reduction initiatives and other defined Sustainability objectives as required. The Analyst is responsible for data reporting, insight development, recommendations to improve data quality and implementation of these as required. Communicating key insights and information succinctly in simple ways is required with many stakeholders throughout both BGIS and our client’s organization. Finally, the Analyst supports the reporting on Energy & Sustainability related client Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Energy & Sustainability Data Analyst II will provide training and support to Energy & Sustainability Data Analysts for them to be able to perform their tasks adequately and meet key deadlines for various deliverables.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Utilizes programming and analytical tools, including Microsoft Power BI, VBA, Tableau, or similar relational database tools to formulate models and/or extract insights. Well versed in knowledge of creating algorithms, identifying patterns and insights from structured and unstructured data sets utilizing graphs, trees and/or other data representation techniques as required.
  • Performs trend analysis, insights, and outlier identification of energy-related data.
  • Supports ongoing review of data from multiple energy, project, sustainability, operations, and environment team sources to ensure ongoing data integrity.
  • Develops data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, cleanse, and standardize data to generate insights and addresses reporting needs.
  • Supports the reporting on GHG-related client KPIs.
  • Defines data requirements and gathers and validates information, using judgment and statistical tests.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots data integration and integrity issues in cooperation with the appropriate business units.
  • Performs ad-hoc, strategic analysis of structured and unstructured data across multiple data sources, reflecting project costs, GHG savings and utility related data.
  • Organizes data and ongoing preparation and development of various sustainability focused reports as needed including but not limited to water, waste, and energy metrics.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Works with internal BGIS team members & PSPC key contacts to coordinate data management, sharing and integration.
  • Acts as the data visualization software subject matter expert, providing training to Energy team members as required.
  • Supports energy team members in the development and design of new tools, databases and process for energy and project management, specifically the Power BI Utility Dashboard.
  • Supports operation teams in providing reports to fulfill project, compliance, and contractual requirements.,
  • Other Duties as Required.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • University degree in computer science, math, engineering, data science, or related.
  • Equivalent or similar college diploma with significant job experience will also be considered.
  • 3 to 5 years of Data Analyst experience is mandatory.
  • Management and organization of large data sets using Microsoft Excel based software.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot data integration and integrity issues in cooperation with the appropriate business units.
  • VBA knowledge, database and programming knowledge.
  • Advanced to expert proficiency level with Microsoft Excel.
  • Advanced skills with visualization software (Microsoft Power BI, Tableau) and use of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong administrative skills including documentation standards.
  • Knowledge of facility management services would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to function efficiently under pressure with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.
