The Quant Engineer Sr. based in downtown Los Angeles or Irvine, CA partners with quantitative researchers and technology teams to design, engineer, build, test, and maintain complex quantitative and machine learning (ML) models that are used for various investment management activities.  Strong engineering and statistical modeling skills, ability to translate complex quantitative or ML models into working software, robust experimental approach to validate the models, ability to quickly understand capital markets (equity and fixed income), various market data sources, industry standard portfolio risk models, learn new technologies and business areas are essential.  You will also be responsible for modeling complex problems, discovering insights, and identifying opportunities using statistics, algorithms, and data mining.

  • Advanced Degree preferred in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields.

  • At least 6 years of experience in an analyst or development role working with quantitative researchers or data scientists to experiment, design, build and test quantitative models and help transform them into technology solutions.

  • Ability to translate business objectives into quantitative models, establish hypothesis and design robust experimental approaches to validate them.

  • Ability to iterate rapidly with researchers and engineers to provide research insights while building the foundational capabilities.

  • Deep expertise in quantitative tools like R, Python, MATLAB, etc.,

  • Experience in machine learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

  • Strong data analysis skills using tools like SQL.

  • Deep expertise in various ML models such as neural networks and LLMs.

  • Experience with MLOps, building large-scale AI products or platforms for NLP, computer vision, or recommendation systems, and managing algorithms and data.

  • Experience with cloud technologies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, learning agility, and ability deal with ambiguity.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Southern California Base Salary Range: $187,370-$299,792

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
